Job Description
Apply to join our team at any time during the year if you've been a police officer for at least one year and have MN POST licensing in good standing or are eligible for POST. A signing bonus of up to $10k, elevated starting pay, and front-loaded vacation and sick time will be available for all experienced officers. Prior law enforcement experience will be considered for promotional and specialty opportunities. This position is classified as entry-level. The Police Officer is responsible for maintaining public order and protecting life and property by responding to emergencies, investigating crimes, apprehending criminals and deterring criminal activity.

Respond to critical emergencies and other calls for service to protect life and property, prevent crime and enforce laws. Investigate all levels of crime to develop facts in a case to prove or disprove who is responsible for committing crimes. Formulate police reports based off evidence and facts established in a case and recommend criminal charges to attorneys when necessary. Develop and implement split second decisions utilizing trained tactics to control dangerous, unpredictable and hazardous situations. Collaborate with local, state and federal agencies, attorneys, judges and other first responders to prosecute crime. Communicate with community members from all walks of life, support community engagements and improve relationships between police and community. Deploy undercover/covert operations to gather intelligence and evidence gathering. Develop and administer department training plans from a vast array of topics from use of force, firearms, control devices, K9, SWAT etc. Assist other departments and employees as necessary. Continually show respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibit sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Some college coursework or Associate Degree Bachelor's degree preferred POST License First Responder License Valid driver's license Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills Strong attention to detail The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Most work is performed outside the office environment, often in inclement weather and there is limited exposure to one or more disagreeable elements. Exposure to violent, stressful, explicit, medical and dangerous situations and reports can be expected. Lifting or moving of 60 pounds or less is required. Travel within the City will occur much of each day using a City squad vehicle. The Police Officer is responsible for diverse matters, some of which have deadlines and require significant attention to detail. Approximately 80% of time, work is performed at a high level of detail or pressure of deadlines. Activities that occur constantly (5-8 hours/shift): walking, sitting, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination Activities that occur frequently (2-5 hours/shift): lifting, handling Activities that occur occasionally (up to 2 hours/shift): carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, grasping, feeling Activities that occur rarely (do not exist as regular part of job): N/A
