Job Description

Overview The Brookford Police Department is seeking experienced law enforcement officers to serve in part-time patrol positions. This opportunity is intended for officers who want to remain active in law enforcement, supplement their current employment, or continue serving in a professional and community-focused agency. Brookford police officers are responsible for protecting life and property, preventing and investigating crime, enforcing state and local laws, responding to emergencies, and providing professional service to residents and visitors. Our officers are encouraged to be visible, interact with residents, identify problems before they escalate, and take an active role in maintaining public safety. We provide a close-knit, team-oriented working environment where experienced officers are trusted to use their training, judgment, and leadership abilities. Part-time officers are an important part of our department and are expected to perform the same essential law enforcement functions as full-time personnel. Applicants must have a minimum of two years of sworn law enforcement experience. Primary Duties Patrol assigned areas to deter crime, identify suspicious activity, and enforce applicable laws. Respond to calls for service, emergencies, disturbances, traffic crashes, and other incidents. Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations. Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects. Collect, document, and preserve evidence. Enforce traffic laws and conduct proactive traffic enforcement. Issue citations and make arrests when legally appropriate. Prepare accurate and detailed incident, arrest, and investigative reports. Assist other law enforcement agencies when requested. Provide emergency assistance and basic first aid when necessary. Engage with residents, businesses, and community organizations to build trust and address public safety concerns. Testify in court and maintain complete and accurate case documentation. Perform other law enforcement duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Successful applicants should possess: A minimum of two years of sworn law enforcement experience. Strong knowledge of criminal law, traffic law, patrol procedures, and officer safety practices. Sound judgment and the ability to make lawful decisions under pressure. Strong communication, conflict-resolution, and de-escalation skills. The ability to work independently with limited supervision. Professional report-writing and investigative skills. The ability to safely operate an emergency vehicle under varying conditions. A commitment to integrity, accountability, professionalism, and community service. The ability to work effectively with officers from Brookford and surrounding agencies. A proactive approach to patrol and crime prevention. North Carolina BLET Certificate This position is best suited for experienced officers who are dependable, professional, self-motivated, and prepared to contribute immediately. The Brookford Police Department is looking for officers who take pride in their work and understand the importance of providing consistent, professional service in a small-community environment.
Pay:
$24.00 - $30.00 per hour
