- Officers are expected to develop and/or participate in established crime prevention, safety education, and campus educational programming such as: Safety Education Tables, Liaison Programs, Faculty Enrichment Programs, RAD Program, ALICE Program, Bike Engravings, Residence Hall Educational Programs, Coffee with a Cop, etc. Special Events
- Officers are expected to work a number of special events, some are mandatory, in order to support the educational and performing arts mission of the university. Assist with the inspection, maintenance, and testing of campus emergency equipment such as blue lights, AEDs, burglar alarms, patrol vehicles, and other emergency management equipment. - Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
Police Officer I:
Positions at this level are entry-level with 0-2 years of experience in law enforcement. Additionally, candidates will have completed North Carolina's Basic Law Enforcement Training and be certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or have the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment.Police Officer II:
Positions at this level are fully functioning officers with two or more years of experience as a sworn local, state, or federal law enforcement officer. Additionally, candidates will have completed North Carolina's Basic Law Enforcement Training and have at least a general certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education Training and Standards Commission (NC CJETSC).Police Officer III:
Positions at this level are veteran officers with four or more years of experience as a sworn local, state, or federal law enforcement officers. Additionally, candidates will have completed North Carolina's Basic Law Enforcement Training and have attained their Intermediate Certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education Training and Standards Commission (NC CJETSC).Master Police Officer I:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and 6 years experience as a sworn local, state or federal law enforcement officer. An advanced degree (JD, Masters, Doctorate) reduces the minimum experience requirement by 1 year. Current certification fromNC CJETSC
as a commissioned police officer or certification eligible within an agency specified timeframe.Master Police Officer II:
3 years of experience as a Master Police Officer with the campus agency or at the discretion of the campus hiring authority, an outside lateral hire with equivalent service in an established Master Police Officer program. Current certification fromNC CJETSC
as a commissioned police officer or certification eligible within an agency specified timeframe.Master Police Officer III:
6 years of experience as a Master Police Officer with the campus agency or at the discretion of the campus hiring authority, an outside lateral hire with equivalent service in an established Master Police Officer program. Current certification fromNC CJETSC
