University Police Department Department Description Special Events Police Officers support the Cleveland State University campus by providing safety and security services during on-campus events. Most events are hosted at the Wolstein Center which is a premier multi-purpose arena located in the heart of downtown Cleveland. Home to CSU Vikings basketball and the Cleveland Crunch of MLIS, the 13,610-seat facility hosts a wide range of major events-including top-tier concerts, family shows, motorsports, trade shows, conventions, and community celebrations. The CSU Police Department is a fully certified law enforcement agency focused on community policing as its core philosophy. Our officers are dedicated to fostering strong relationships with the surrounding community to promote trust, transparency, and collaboration. This part time opportunity is ideal for professionals committed to service, safety, and community. Job Summary Works special events at Cleveland State University (CSU) by independently performing duties of a certified peace officer using standard operating procedures of law enforcement for the safety and protection of CSU students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the general public. Provides special service/assistance as needed. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current OPOTA Peace Officer certification. Currently employed full-time with a qualifying law enforcement agency. Current completion of required Field Training and Continued Professional Training through full-time employment. Three (3) years of continuous full-time experience in law enforcement. 21 years of age or older and eligible for license to carry a firearm. Valid driver's license and ability to establish driver eligibility under Cleveland State University's Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy. Preferred Qualifications Five (5) years of continuous full-time experience in law enforcement. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of a certified peace officer. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and judgement skills. Ability to work nights, weekends, or flexible hours. Physical requirements to include but not limited to, bending, stretching, reaching, or reacting quickly using hands, fingers, arms, legs or feet. Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects. Stand for long periods of time.
