Job Description

Position Overview The Laurens City Police Department is seeking qualified, motivated, and community-oriented individuals to serve as Full-Time Police Officers. This position is responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing state and local laws, and fostering positive relationships within the community. Officers work under the general supervision of the Shift Sergeant, Patrol. Minimum Qualifications Must be a certified Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer in South Carolina (or eligible for certification) Minimum age of 21 High school diploma or GED required (college degree preferred) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Prior experience working with youth or in educational environments is preferred Valid South Carolina driver's license Clean criminal background and ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation
Compensation & Benefits Starting Salary:
$50,646.96 annually Take-Home Patrol Vehicle Comprehensive benefits package, including: Health, dental, and vision insurance Participation in the South Carolina State Retirement System Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave Department-issued uniforms and equipment Ongoing professional development and training opportunities Key Responsibilities Patrol assigned areas to enforce laws and maintain public safety Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service Conduct investigations, collect evidence, and prepare detailed reports Apprehend suspects and enforce DUI and criminal laws Prepare warrants, subpoenas, and testify in court proceedings Transport detainees and provide courtroom security Participate in community policing initiatives and outreach efforts Assist citizens with public service needs, including traffic control and welfare checks Maintain accurate records and uphold departmental standards Participate in specialized operations and ongoing training Work Schedule Officers must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
