This role involves a unique blend of law enforcement, mentorship, and emergency response duties. The SRO acts as a trusted figure, providing guidance and support to students while also ensuring the prevention and detection of crimes on school grounds. The position requires a high level of professionalism, with the ability to work independently and make sound judgments. Montgomery County, Tennessee, is home to Clarksville, the state's fifth-largest city. Located just 40 miles from Nashville and within a day's drive of most major U.S. cities. Certification by the Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission is a must. Two or more years of relevant experience in law enforcement or a related field. Ability to execute tasks with firmness, tact, and impartiality, while maintaining a courteous demeanor. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, staff, and the community. Quick thinking and calm demeanor in emergency situations, with the ability to provide physical assistance when needed. Proficiency in using office equipment and computer software to complete administrative tasks. Physical ability to operate equipment and lift/carry weights as required by the job. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with diverse audiences. Provide emergency response and ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors. Prevent and detect crimes, and apprehend offenders within the school premises. Act as a teacher, mentor, and counselor, fostering a positive and safe school environment. Accurately prepare and maintain records and reports related to law enforcement activities. Assist in the training of personnel, ensuring a well-equipped and knowledgeable team. Participate in community relations and recruitment activities, representing the Sheriff's Office. Provide courtroom testimony when required, ensuring a professional and credible presence. Maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable state statutes, laws, and regulations. Operate and utilize equipment efficiently and safely, including vehicles, firearms, and communication devices. Work collaboratively with other SROs and school staff to address any security concerns.
