Job Description

Full-Time Patrol Officer Current Pay Rate - $44,414/yr. $21.35/hr. - starting + (Officer Retention Program) = $50,000/yr. The City of Bruceville-Eddy is currently accepting applications for full-time patrol officers. The City of Bruceville-Eddy is located in McLennan County on Interstate 35 between Waco and Temple, Texas. The City of Bruceville-Eddy supplies uniforms, paid training opportunities, as well as a take home vehicle•. Full-time officers receive 13 paid holidays as well as 1 paid personal day. Full-time officers receive paid health, dental, and life insurance. All applicants are required to complete the Personal History Statement form available on the TCOLE website. Qualifications:
Requirements:
High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate. Basic Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement preferred or eligible to become certified. Must have no prior arrest records for: driving while intoxicated, driving while impaired, no possession or trafficking of illegal narcotics or drugs, assault, stalking, family violence, theft, crimes of moral turpitude, or sexual offenses. Military applicants must disclose any non-judicial discipline involving the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Must have never been on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense. Must not be currently under indictment for any criminal offense. Must have never been convicted of an offense above the grade of a Class C misdemeanor. Good knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws, codes and statutes. Must be able to patrol assigned jurisdiction attempting to detect and suppress criminal activity. Must be able to make criminal justice inquiries on suspects to determine if wanted and make arrest when appropriate. Must be able to prepare detailed incident / offense reports. Must be able to enforce traffic laws by patrolling and issuing traffic citations to violators. Investigate traffic accidents. Must be able to testify in court. Must pass a medical examination and drug screen. The purpose of the medical examination and drug screen is to determine whether the individual is physically sound and free from any defect which may adversely affect the performance of duties appropriate to the type of license or appointment sought and whether the individual shows traces of drug dependency or illegal drug use. Must pass a Psychological and Emotional Health Examination. Given the nature of law enforcement and the potential consequences to the agency, the individual, and the public, the purpose of the psychological examination is to determine whether the individual is in satisfactory psychological and emotional health to serve as the type of law enforcement officer for which the license or appointment is sought. Ability to effectively respond to citizen inquires and complaints. Skill in communicating effectively both in writing and in person. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, Elected/Appointed Officials, Department/Division Heads, City employees, government agencies, and the general public. Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation from the Bruceville-Eddy Police Department.
