Job Description

Department Del Mar Police Dept Position Type Non-Exempt Employment Status Part-Time Salary $45.00 per hour Open Date 11/12/2025 Close Date Open Until Filled No Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The purpose of this position is to patrol campus property in order to provide for the safety and welfare of students and employees. The Police Officer is responsible for providing security to campus property including buildings, vehicles, equipment and land. This position reports directly to the Chief of Security. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Must be at least 21 years of age. Valid TX Driver's License with the ability to be insured by Del Mar College. TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) certified peace officer. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Strong interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communication/public relation skills. Proven ability to act quickly and intelligently in an emergency situation. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform general patrol (emergency response, medical and calls for service) duties. Understanding of crime prevention and community police. Ability to effectively use and maintain law enforcement equipment. Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Understanding the mission, goals and objectives of a community college. Preferred Qualifications Currently employed as a Corpus Christi Police Officer. Job Duties Job Duty Patrol campus property to provide for the safety and welfare of students and employees. Job Duty Provide security to campus property including buildings, vehicles, equipment and land. Job Duty Enforce state and federal laws, local ordinances, and college rules and regulations pertaining to students, employees and visitors while on College property. Job Duty Detect and deter crimes, respond to complaints, recognize situations quickly and objectively and determine the appropriate actions. Job Duty Enforce parking regulations, assist motorists, and direct traffic flow when needed. Job Duty Perform initial investigations and follow up investigations into criminal activity. Job Duty Testify in court of law as to findings in criminal investigations. Job Duty Prepare written reports and incident reports relating to criminal incidents, security and safety matters.
