$57,000.00 - $70,000.00
Annually Position Summary:
Police Officers play a vital role in maintaining public safety and enforcing the law within the community. This position is committed to upholding justice, protecting citizens, and providing assistance during emergencies. Police Officers identify criminal offenders and criminal activity and, where appropriate, apprehend offenders and participate in subsequent court proceedings. Much of the work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard. Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background investigation, a polygraph examination, a psychological examination, and a physical and drug screening prior to appointment.
Essential Functions:
On an assigned shift, operate a patrol vehicle to observe violations of traffic laws, suspicious activities or persons and disturbances of law and order. Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents. Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, accidents, and other incidents. Engage with community members to foster positive relationships and promote public safety. Enforce laws related to traffic, criminal activity, and local ordinances. Utilize surveillance techniques to monitor suspicious activities. Provide assistance in conflict management situations to ensure peaceful resolutions. Enforce traffic laws; issue citations for traffic violations. Serve warrants and make arrests; maintain warrant records. Testify in court. Provide police escorts and direct traffic. Perform residential and commercial checks. Fill out arrest records, fingerprints, and photograph suspects. Perform prisoner security functions. Report unsafe conditions existing in street or other public facilities. Interview victims and witnesses. Perform property and evidence duties. Prepare detailed reports documenting incidents, observations, and actions taken. Participate in a variety of in-service training programs. May be assigned collateral duties such as investigations, radar patrol, DUI patrol, community policing, or training, as qualified. May be assigned special duties such as school program presentations, evidence transport, etc. Perform related tasks as required.
