Detention Deputy

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Detention Deputy to maintain safety and security within our detention facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising inmates, enforcing rules, and ensuring the smooth operation of the detention center. This role requires strong observation skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations professionally. Prior law enforcement or security experience is preferred, along with training in conflict management and report writing. Duties Monitor inmate activity through CCTV systems and conduct regular patrols within the facility Enforce facility rules and regulations to maintain order and safety Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical incidents, using first aid and CPR when necessary Manage conflicts between inmates through effective conflict management techniques Document incidents accurately through detailed report writing Assist with inmate intake, release, and transfers as needed Conduct routine inspections of detention areas to ensure cleanliness and security compliance Coordinate with law enforcement agencies for investigations or additional security measures Requirements Prior experience in law enforcement, security, military service, or related fields is highly desirable Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified Knowledge of CCTV operation and security systems is a plus Strong conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail Ability to work in a high-stress environment while maintaining professionalism and composure Valid driver's license may be required depending on jurisdiction Must pass background checks and meet all licensing requirements for detention personnel
