Control number 883153300 This job is open to Help The public U.S. Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Clarificion from the agency United Stes Citizens Duties Help The Civil Division is seeking talented torneys to join all of its sections, with opportunities of particular interest in the Federal Programs Branch, the Office of Immigrion Litigion, the Enforcement and Affirmive Litigion Branch, and the Fraud Section, as well as time-limited appointments in the Radiion Exposure Compension Act Program. The Division strongly prefers to hire torneys for positions in its Washington, D.C., locion, as well as in New York City for its Internional Trade Field Office. However, the Division will consider exceptionally well-qualified candides for positions outside of Washington, D.C., on a limited basis. Enforcement and Affirmive Litigion (EAL): The EAL protects the interests of the United Stes through affirmive litigion and enforcement actions. Attorneys in the Affirmive Litigion Section represent the United Stes in landmark litigion against stes, municipalities, and prive entities th interfere with federal law and policy. The Section challenges unlawful ste and local actions, files stements of interest and amicus briefs, and advoces for nionwide compliance with the Constitution and federal law.

Civil Fraud Section:

The Fraud section investiges and litiges some of the Civil Division's most significant cases and leads the Department's False Claims Act enforcement efforts. The Section handles major and multi-jurisdictional cases involving tens of millions of dollars, complex and novel legal questions, and significant enforcement policy mters. It coordines civil fraud investigions across the Department, promoting consistency in enforcement policies and legal positions, and providing litigion resources, training, and supplemental staffing to U.S. Attorneys' Offices. The Section also manages agency relionships, leads the Department's health care da analytics program and other da initiives, and houses the Elder Justice Initiive, which coordines efforts to comb fraud and abuse involving seniors. Radiion Exposure Compension Act (RECA): The RECA section provides compension to individuals who developed certain serious illnesses following exposure to radiion from the U.S. nuclear weapons program, as well as to eligible survivors. Reauthorized in 2025, RECA is a unique federal program designed to provide compension through a non-adversarial process rher than traditional litigion. Attorneys working on RECA mters help implement this important program and determine whether claims sisfy stutory eligibility requirements. Office of Immigrion Litigion (OIL): Attorneys in OIL are shaping the future of immigrion law through some of the Nion's most consequential immigrion litigion, representing the United Stes before federal district courts and the United Stes Courts of Appeals nionwide. OIL torneys handle complex mters involving the immigrion and nionality laws, including appelle litigion, detention, removal, constitutional claims, and other significant civil actions. They work closely with federal client agencies, United Stes Attorneys' Offices, and Department of Justice components on cases with nionwide implicions, playing a critical role in advancing immigrion law and representing the interests of the United Stes. While the Civil Division has particular hiring needs in the sections identified above, the Division welcomes applicions from talented torneys interested in serving across its broad range of litigion practices.
