Job Description

Legal Services Alabama, Inc. (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. LSA provides free, client-centered civil legal advocacy to low-income Alabamians and collaborates with others across the state and nation to find solutions to systemic issues caused by poverty and social justice inequities. This is a full-time position based in the LSA Selma Regional Office. The attorney will assist in civil matters related to legal rights, benefits, and entitlements through legal advice, counseling, and representation to senior citizens in Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington, and Wilcox. counties. The legal services provided will assist seniors who are the most vulnerable and who are at risk of losing their autonomy, dignity, or independence. Additionally, the attorney will provide community education for the older population. This project is sponsored by a grant through Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission (ATRC), Area Agency on Aging (AAA).
Qualifications:
This position is an exciting opportunity for attorneys who are admitted to the Alabama Bar and who are passionate about serving low-income and elderly populations. Strong legal writing and communication skills are required. Preference is given to attorneys who are bilingual. The position offers the meaningful experience of working in Selma, which offers a diverse population and rich civil rights history. Alabama recognizes reciprocity in certain states. Salary:
$54,810 plus based upon experience
Benefits:
LSA offers an excellent benefits package, valued at approximately $19,000, including six weeks of paid leave annually and 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for each employee.
