WHO WE ARE
: Community Legal Services (CLS) is a team of highly motivated individuals, who provide legal assistance, advice or representation, self-help materials and legal education so people can know their rights. We focus on helping survivors of domestic violence; assisting victims of consumer fraud and abuse, protecting tenants from unlawful/unfair practices by landlords, foreclosures, legal problems affecting agricultural workers, wage claims and other employment matters, and federal and state programs affecting people's health and economic stability. We are dedicated to addressing economic, racial and other inequities by delivering legal services and education to vulnerable members of the community.
DESCRIPTION
Community Legal Services is seeking a managing attorney, who has excellent legal skills and is passionate about and committed to working with underserved communities. The managing attorney will be expected to take a leadership role in CLS' efforts to provide strategic advocacy, including litigation to address the legal problems of the low-income community, as well as coordinate and participate in community outreach. In addition, the managing attorney is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the statewide Farmworker Program and the Yuma County office with locations in Phoenix, San Luis and Yuma, Arizona. The managing attorney will also be responsible to supervise, evaluate and train staff; maintain collaborative relations between the offices and the local bar associations and community organizations and groups; and coordinate intake of clients and caseload distribution.
SALARY:
Depending on licensure and experience; excellent benefits package, including 12 paid holidays; a generous PTO plan (vacation, sick and personal leave); health and dental insurance (95% employee - 70% dependents), disability insurance, malpractice insurance, educational loan assistance, 403b pension plan (base and matching contributions), bar dues payment, possible eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program and more.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred candidate will have a minimum of ten years, but no less than five, of legal experience including litigation experience. Strong preference given to candidates who have worked in legal services and/or demonstrated commitment to proactive aggressive and strategic advocacy on behalf of people with low-incomes people.. Must be or become competent in the use of the case management system, programs and systems used by the firm. Must be a member of the Arizona State Bar or eligible for admission pursuant to Rule 38(d), Ariz. R. Sup. Ct. Ability to speak and write Spanish fluently desired but not required.
