Job Description

Sheppard is seeking a Privacy & Cybersecurity Litigation Associate (2-4 years) to join our nationally recognized Privacy and Cybersecurity team. This position is open to any U.S. Sheppard office. Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is a global Am Law 50 full-service law firm with over 1,200 attorneys across 16 offices worldwide. Our market-leading Privacy and Cybersecurity litigation team defends clients nationwide and across industries to help them through complex data privacy and security issues in high-profile and cutting-edge litigation, arbitrations, and regulatory investigations. Our privacy litigation team has been repeatedly recognized for our work in this area, including by organizations such as Chambers, Legal 500, Law360, Cybersecurity Docket, Crain's New York, Benchmark Litigation, BTI Consulting, and Best Lawyers. Successful applicants will have some mix of: Experience with privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection litigation in state and federal court, including class actions Experience defending claims under statutes such as CCPA/CPRA, TCPA, CIPA/ECPA, CMIA, CEMA, COPPA, BIPA, and/or FCRA Exposure to regulatory investigations or enforcement (e.g., FTC, DOJ, SEC, state attorneys general, and global data authorities) is a plus Experience with or interest in security incident response A strong aptitude for technology and an understanding of how technologies work Ability to work directly with clients and on fast-moving matters with multiple stakeholders
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school 2-4 years of relevant litigation experience Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal skills Admitted to and in good standing with the California bar Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail Resume, cover letter, and law school transcript are required to apply. The annual salary range for this position is $235,000-$310,000.
