Job Description
Job Summary Serves at the Town's appointed Defense Counsel to include counsel, defense, plea negotiations, sentencing recommendations, probation revocations, and contempt hearings.
This position is contracted by the Pagosa Springs Municipal Court. Legal services include all necessary court appearances, legal research, investigation, correspondence, preparation of legal documents, trial preparation, appeals to Municipal and District Court, and all related work required to properly represent the Defendant following arrest, detention, service of process, or issuance of summons and complaints.
Specific duties of a Court-Appointed Defense Counsel shall include the following:
Act as Defense Counsel in Municipal Court for Traffic and Municipal Code violations.
Required to be responsive to communication by telephone or email for needs outside the courtroom.
