Position Overview This is a full-time position available in our Administration Department. The individual we are looking for must demonstrate a compassionate attitude and demeanor while interacting with grieving individuals and families. Daily interaction will include funeral directors, visitors and cemetery staff. This position requires a kind and caring individual with strong organizational and interpersonal competencies. The role calls for excellent verbal and written communications, abilities responding to daily telephone and in-person inquiries. Position Description The Administrative and Family Services Associate will assist with the scheduling of funeral services and other daily cemetery transactions. He or she will also help educate and guide families through the sales process to make informed decisions for cemetery advanced planning and at-need purchases of burial spaces and memorialization. An Administrative and Family Services Associate serves families with care and compassion, educating and guiding them through the process of making informed decisions for advanced planning of cemetery needs or sudden loss of a loved one, memorialization products and other cemetery services. The position requires a highly motivated and dedicated individual, with a strong work ethic, and heightened sense of empathy to be part of our cemetery staff. Reporting to the Executive Director, an Administrative and Family Services Associate interacts with families, the Grounds' Manager, and other cemetery staff. Summary of Primary Responsibilities Greet and assist families with selection of appropriate burial sites (plots, crypts/niches) for immediate need and/or advanced planning. Complete sales process with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, recordkeeping, and final arrangements. Assist in addressing service issues as they arise, including processing incoming interments and addressing specific questions from families and visitors. Responsible for timely and accurate data entry of customer information in database computer system. Maintain a high level of professionalism and communication timeliness with customers and business contacts. Completion of various cemetery reports - such as monthly sales, tax and crypt/niche inventory. Process bills received from vendors for purchases and services rendered to Oak Lawn. Qualification Requirements Have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. High school diploma required, college degree preferred. At least 1-3 years of office and/or sales experience preferred; cemetery experience a plus. Customer focus with ability to serve customers with empathy and respect. Reliable in attendance, punctual, and adaptable to changing priorities. Detail oriented person with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, dependable and efficient verbal, email, and phone communication. Highly organized and excellent time management skills. Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Proficient in Microsoft Office; not limited to Word or Excel. Must be able to sit for extended periods and move throughout office and cemetery environments.
