Role:
Harris Beach Murtha seeks a mid-to-senior level associate to join our growing Transactional Liability Practice. Our team represents insurance companies in a wide variety of claims arising under insurance policies covering mergers and acquisitions transactions, tax matters, and contingent liability risks. We are seeking a highly motivated attorney with strong analytical, writing, and communication skills who is interested in sophisticated insurance coverage and transactional matters. The Transactional Liability Associate will have the opportunity to: Represent insurance company clients in transactional liability matters and related insurance products Review and analyze insurance policies, transactional liability claims, and related agreements in connection with mergers and acquisitions, tax positions, contingent risks, and other complex business transactions Assist clients with evaluating, investigating, and resolving claims under transactional liability policies Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, analyses, coverage determinations, and client communications regarding transactional liability issues and related third-party litigation Draft and negotiate agreements related to transactional liability claims Collaborate closely with clients, brokers, and outside professionals throughout the transactional claims process Interact with clients to service existing work and develop strong client relationships Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to provide comprehensive legal support to clients
Work Environment and Expectations:
A hybrid work opportunity in one (or several) of Harris Beach Murtha's offices Minimum annual billable requirement of 1900 hours Direct client interaction and opportunities to develop long-term professional relationships Engagement in sophisticated insurance coverage matters and complex transactional disputes Applications are encouraged and desired if you have: Admission to the Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut Bar, or eligibility for admission in one of those jurisdictions Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school Experience handling insurance coverage matters, transactional liability claims, or complex business litigation Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills The ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information A high level of professionalism, conscientiousness, and responsibility A positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude Military experience welcome Salary information below will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position and geographic locations. $147,000 - $195,000 Harris Beach Murtha is not accepting candidate submissions from recruiting agencies for this position during the first two weeks after posting.
