Job Description

Danaher is delighted to announce an in-house legal fellowship for a 2026 graduate of the Ohio State Moritz College of Law. This fellowship will provide the recipient with a one-year, paid experience participating in and contributing to the work of an in-house legal team for a $24B company with 63,000+ associates across the globe at more than 15 unique businesses within life sciences, diagnostics, and biotechnology. The fellowship will begin in the late summer/early fall of 2026 and will continue for 12 months thereafter. The responsibilities of the fellow will be designed in accordance with specific Company needs over the duration of the fellowship but will provide outstanding service to the Company and an inside understanding of corporate client needs to the fellow. The fellowship term is expected to be 12 months in duration and is not intended to be renewable with the same fellow after that period of time. During the fellowship, the fellow will rotate across Danaher's legal departments including: Ethics & Compliance, Litigation and Investigation, Labor & Employment, M&A, Government Affairs, Intellectual Property and Corporate Governance. The fellowship will be based at the company's corporate headquarters in Washington, DC. The fellow will work directly with the company's General Counsel, senior legal leaders, lawyers and paralegals at all levels as well as business leaders across the company. Danaher seeks a graduating law student in the class of 2026 with strong credentials (e.g., grades, research and writing skills, extracurricular and/or work experience, references) for this unique career opportunity for a new lawyer.
Duties may include:
- Working with Company attorneys, Company departments and third parties in aspects of various types of corporate transactions.
- Researching legal and factual issues, drafting and reviewing contracts, confidentiality agreements, amendment and other legal documents.
- Supporting Company litigation efforts including preparing pleadings, discovery documents, motions, memoranda and briefs and activities in support of discovery and trial.
- Supporting Company responses to federal, state and local inquiries and regulations.
- Attending meetings with appropriate leaders within Company, appropriate group or client meetings and relevant training programs.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Must have either passed the bar examination in a state of the applicant's choosing, or be able to have a bar license within 6 months of hire.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of legal research, contracts, commercial transactions and corporate structure and governance.
- Teamwork. Ability to be a good team player by helping others in the department, and by being versatile, positive, diplomatic and aware of other's needs and preferences.
- Client Service. Ability to make positive impressions on clients of the department by being polite, responsive, professional and helpful to users of our services.
- Communication. Ability to explain facts and express points of view clearly and logically in written and oral communications.
- Planning. Ability to prioritize tasks logically and plan work efficiently to maximize the administrative support for legal function available from limited resources.
- Judgment. Ability to discriminate relevant from irrelevant information and significant/material issues from insignificant/immaterial issues.
- Independence. Highly motivated self-starter, able to accomplish tasks, make routine decisions and handle frequently encountered problems with minimum supervision.
- Handling Pressure. Ability to efficiently produce high quality work under the pressure imposed by executive expectations, limited time and/or awareness of the significance of the work.
