Veterans' Disability Department Attorney
CAPE CORAL FL
Posted 2 weeks ago Avard Law Offices Avard Law Offices is seeking an attorney with management writing and analytical skills to lead its Veterans' Disability Department. The position requires overseeing a practice group of 6 to 7 employees who represent and assist veterans in their applications for VA disability benefits. Additionally the attorney will be expected to assist in other practice areas such as personal injury workers compensation Florida Retirement System and Long-Term Disability.
Specific duties include:
Keep a diary system that tracks all deadlines including the statute of limitations. Assist with hiring evaluation termination of staff Train mentor and supervise staff Monitor staff productivity and performance and address issues and concerns Conduct periodic team meetings to ensure consistency and timeliness of workload Review caseload and staffing highlights and concerns at weekly staff meetings Coordinate with tech staff to tweak client database to increase efficiency in terms of work product and file review/handling along with an eye towards recoupment of case expenses Ensure court deadlines case management plans and trial orders are properly input on firm diary system and firm calendar Draft demand packets and monitor negotiations Ensure proper medical development of cases Prepare collateral source summaries for mediations Assist with document preparation medical and lien balances etc. related to case settlement Converse with clients regarding the status of claims Maintain approved fees list and coordinate with fiscal office to ensure timely payment of legal fees due Maintain an appeal deadlines report and ensure timely compliance with deadlines Maintain schedule of upcoming hearings and handle both pre- and post-hearing development Review and respond to incoming VA correspondence as well as client emails telephone inquiries and correspondence Coordinate with clients for timely response to VA inquiries and requests Diary and review all incoming decisions to determine need for appeal and which of 5 appeal options is most appropriate for each claim Oversee and assist with entire range of tasks required to process service-connected disability claims and appeals By Michael Bottini|April 8 2026|Comments Off on Veterans' Disability Department Attorney
