Position Specific Description NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) is seeking an experienced commercial attorney with energy-related transactional and project management expertise to support NEET's development and management teams. The attorney would be responsible for drafting and negotiating a broad range of sophisticated commercial agreements in the electric transmission infrastructure space, including joint development agreements, joint venture and limited liability company agreements, development services agreements, transmission capacity leases, purchase and sale agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, and other transmission-related commercial agreements. The applicant must be a team player with a demonstrated commercial acumen who can interact successfully with clients, management, and counterparties and who can thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Experience in the following is highly preferred: development of large energy infrastructure projects, sale leaseback structures, and a broad range of commercial agreements, including joint venture and strategic partnership agreements, development agreements, services agreements, and purchase and sale agreements. The ideal candidate will have 4-8 years of commercial transactional experience related to transmission projects.
Specific Responsibilities:
Deliver timely and quality written and oral legal advice to clients with minimal supervision. Partner with cross-functional teams (including commercial, development, regulatory, and tax) to advance strategic initiatives Manage commercial transactions. Identify, mitigate and guard against legal and commercial risk. Work to ensure budget compliance. Displace outside counsel. Ensure disclosure of material legal issues to General Counsel. Manage multiple high-priority matters in a fast-paced environment while exercising sound business judgment and operating with a high degree of independence.
