426031 Job Overview A law firm seeks a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with at least 2 years of experience in life sciences patenting to join their Miami, FL office. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated patent matters for a diverse client base, including Fortune 50 companies and innovative start-ups. Duties Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector. Conduct freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses. Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including strategic consultation, portfolio management, and patent enforcement. Collaborate with clients, colleagues, the USPTO, and foreign associates regarding domestic and international patent prosecution matters. Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment that supports professional growth and client service excellence. Requirements At least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology. Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences, e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, etc. Superior academic credentials. Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies. Experience in conducting searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape assessments. Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing. Admission to at least one State bar. Prior law firm experience preferred. Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative approach, sound judgment, and a commitment to exceptional client service. Education Advanced degree in biological sciences (Ph.D. preferred).
