Job Description

Why this role Build a family law practice at a firm that actually supports you. At BPE, you'll handle a full caseload with the backing of a collaborative team, experienced mentors, and the infrastructure to do the work well — not a sink-or-swim environment where you're figuring it out alone. Family law is demanding work. We pair that reality with a culture that takes work-life balance seriously and a firm trip that proves it. What you'll do Manage a caseload of family law matters — divorce, child custody, child support, timesharing, and related issues — from intake through resolution. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements. Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and court proceedings. Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Develop case strategy and deliver practical, grounded legal advice that helps clients navigate difficult moments. What we're looking for You bring 2+ years of experience in Florida family law and are comfortable in a courtroom. You're a strong writer and negotiator who can hold your own in contested matters without losing the human touch — family law clients need an advocate and a steady presence. You manage a busy docket without dropping details. JD from an accredited law school and active Florida Bar membership in good standing are required.
Bonus points for:
Spanish-language ability, mediation certification, or prior solo/small-firm experience running your own cases. What we offer $125K-$160K base, commensurate with experience, plus bonus potential Health insurance, retirement plan, and generous PTO CLE fully covered Annual all-expenses-paid firm trip (post-eligibility) A collaborative, multi-office Florida firm with a genuine commitment to work-life balance Real mentorship and support — not just a desk and a caseload Ready to apply? Send your resume and a brief note about a family law matter you're proud of handling to jyoungblood@berlinpatten.com. We review applications on a rolling basis and aim to respond within a week.
