Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to support a law firm in Tallahassee, Florida with matters involving land use, planning, and local government law. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a licensed attorney with at least 3 years of experience who brings strong legal writing, analytical thinking, and research capabilities. The role focuses on producing well-supported legal work product and advising on regulatory and governmental issues in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth legal research related to land use, zoning, planning, and local government matters.
  • Prepare a wide range of legal documents, including memoranda, motions, responses, briefs, and detailed correspondence.
  • Analyze statutes, ordinances, case law, and regulatory guidance to support client matters and legal strategy.
  • Develop clear, persuasive written work product for internal review, court filings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Assist with issues involving government regulation and legislative research as they affect active matters.
  • Review case-specific facts and legal authorities to identify risks, arguments, and practical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to advance deadlines, filings, and matter-related deliverables.
  • Contribute informed legal analysis that supports planning and zoning matters before local governmental bodies. Requirements
  • Active attorney license and good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • At least 3 years of legal experience, with a strong background in land use, planning, or local government law.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and other substantive legal documents.
  • Excellent legal research skills, including statutory, regulatory, case law, and manual research methods.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to present complex legal issues clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with zoning, land use planning, and government regulatory frameworks.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is highly valued.
