Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting survivors of domestic violence and helping them navigate complex systems? Join our team as a Domestic Violence Legal Advocate and make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors. The Domestic Violence Legal Advocate will offer information about the legal system and the Illinois Domestic Violence Act to survivors and their families. You will help survivors understand their legal rights, provide hands-on support with paperwork and court processes, and connect individuals to critical resources. In this role, collaboration and a commitment to advocacy are key to helping individuals access the resources and support they need.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to: Provide support, referrals, and assistance to individuals served. Collaborate with internal team and external partners to ensure individuals receive appropriate support and resources. Accompany individuals to court and attend court proceedings as needed. Provide information and guidance regarding the legal system and the Illinois Domestic Violence Act. Serve as a liaison between the agency, the criminal justice system, and local law enforcement. Crosspoint Human Services offers comprehensive on the job 40 hour domestic violence training. Job Requirements Requires Bachelor's degree in social services or related field, or equivalent in life and/or professional experience. Minimum three years work experience in domestic violence, legal area or human services field preferred. Excellent assessment, counseling, and training skills.
