Title:
Estate Planning AttorneyLocation:
Lisle, ILPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Estate Planning Attorney to advise individuals and families on estate, trust, and tax planning matters. The successful candidate will draft and implement revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and related documents; provide counsel on wealth transfer, asset protection, and probate avoidance; and manage client relationships from initial planning through administration and trust funding. This role combines technical legal expertise with client-focused counseling and requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with financial advisors and tax professionals.

Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise clients on estate planning strategies, including asset protection, wealth transfer, and probate avoidance.

Draft, review, and implement estate planning documents such as wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and trust funding agreements.

Design and execute complex trust structures and estate plans tailored to client objectives, tax considerations, and family dynamics.

Provide guidance on trust administration, including fiduciary duties, distributions, accountings, and tax filings.

Collaborate with tax advisors, financial planners, insurance professionals, and other counsel to deliver integrated planning solutions.

Counsel clients on charitable giving strategies, family limited partnerships, and generation-skipping transfer planning where appropriate.

Handle probate, trust administration, and related litigation matters or coordinate with litigation counsel as needed.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state estate, trust, and tax laws and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Manage client intake, maintain detailed client files, and deliver clear, client-focused communication regarding legal options, costs, and timelines.

Participate in business development activities, including client seminars, networking, and relationship-building with allied professionals.

QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolAdmission to practice in Illinois3+ years of experience practicing estate planning, trust drafting/administration, and probateDemonstrated expertise in drafting and administering revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and related estate planning documents.

Strong knowledge of federal and state estate and gift tax rules, income tax considerations related to trusts, and basic tax planning strategies.

Excellent client counseling skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts in plain language and build trusted client relationships.

Detail-oriented with strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.

Experience collaborating with financial advisors, CPAs, and other professionals to deliver integrated wealth planning solutions.

Professional demeanor, high ethical standards, and the ability to handle sensitive family and financial information confidentially.

Prior experience with elder law, special needs planning, charitable planning, or business succession planning is a plus.

Comfort with legal technology, document management systems, and e-signature/workflow tools.
