Job Description

Overview Position Summary:
The Senior Counsel serves as a key member of the Legal Department and provides strategic legal support across employment, litigation, commercial contracting, operational, and compliance matters for a multi-state healthcare organization. This position partners closely with executive leadership, Human Resources, operations, procurement, and business teams to negotiate and manage critical business agreements, advise on workforce-related legal issues, mitigate risk, and support the organization's strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong labor and employment expertise with experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. Responsibilities Labor and Employment Counseling Serve as primary legal advisor for day-to-day guidance on employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and employee separations. Advise Human Resources and leadership on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices. Draft and review employment-related agreements, policies, handbooks, and training materials. Litigation and Risk Management Manage employment, commercial, and other business-related disputes, claims, investigations, and litigation matters. Oversee outside counsel and develop practical strategies to mitigate legal risk and achieve favorable outcomes. Corporate and Operational Support Assist with drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology, professional services, healthcare, real estate, and other operational contracts. Advise business stakeholders on healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, and other legal issues impacting the organization. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Requirements:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from a respected law school with strong academic record Admission to a U.S. state bar with an active license and compliance with requirements for in-house practice in the State of Kentucky Strong ethical background and commitment to integrity Flexibility and willingness to perform all levels of work Strong business judgment and ability to provide practical, risk-based legal advice Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Minimum 5-7 years' experience at top tier law firm or in-house Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in
Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint Preferred:
