This isn't a role where you simply move files from one stage to the next. It's a position where you take ownership of personal injury cases, develop litigation strategy, advocate for your clients, and work alongside a strong team to pursue the best possible outcome. You'll manage cases throughout the litigation process — from filing suit through resolution — including discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. What You'll Actually Be Doing Manage a docket of personal injury litigation files from suit through resolution Develop and execute case strategy in collaboration with firm leadership and support staff Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other litigation-related documents Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written arguments Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, treating physicians, and experts Attend hearings, status conferences, mediations, and other court appearances Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and trial strategy development Evaluate liability, damages, and settlement opportunities throughout the life of each case Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and defense counsel to maximize client outcomes Communicate regularly with clients, providing meaningful updates, explaining litigation strategy, and answering questions Collaborate with Litigation Legal Secretaries, Case Managers, and other attorneys to ensure cases progress efficiently Identify case needs, deadlines, and potential issues before they become problems Maintain accurate and timely documentation within Filevine and other case management systems Maintain compliance with firm protocols, ethical guidelines, and applicable legal standards Uphold the firm's standards of excellence in every interaction, providing exceptional hospitality and advocacy to every client Who Thrives Here You genuinely care about the people behind the cases you're handling You enjoy litigation and want to be actively involved in building and advancing cases You're a strong writer who can take complicated legal issues and turn them into clear, persuasive arguments You're comfortable taking depositions, arguing motions, appearing in court, and advocating for your clients You think strategically and understand that successful litigation requires both preparation and adaptability You're highly organized and understand that deadlines and details can have real consequences for a client You take ownership. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required Successful completion of the Louisiana Bar Exam and admission to the Louisiana Bar is required 3+ years of personal injury litigation experience preferred Experience taking and defending depositions Experience drafting and arguing motions Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills Excellent organizational and time-management abilities Proficiency in case management software; Filevine experience is a plus Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment Ready to be part of a team that fights for the win — with heart?
