This role involves representing incarcerated individuals and the families of persons who passed away in correctional facilities in civil litigation. Prior experience with prisoner civil rights litigation and/or medical malpractice litigation is preferred, but not required. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through impactful legal work in a fast-paced environment. Duties Draft, review, and file legal motions, pleadings, discovery materials, and briefs related to prisoner civil rights cases. Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings with meticulous attention to detail. Engage in client communication to gather case information, provide updates, and explain legal proceedings clearly to clients. Develop case strategies and work closely with clients and expert witnesses. Collaborate with colleagues on complex litigation matters involving personal injury law, constitutional law, and administrative procedures. Requirements Licensed to practice law in Michigan. Excellent legal research and writing skills. Experience with civil litigation in federal court is strongly preferred.
