Job Description

Position Summary The Law Office of Deborah L. Pico is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join our practice. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload with a primary focus on trial work in probate and civil litigation matters. At least 5 years litigation experience required. This role requires a self-directed, detail-oriented attorney who demonstrates sound legal judgment, strong advocacy skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service. The Litigation Attorney will work closely with the firm's principal on all phases of litigation, from case evaluation through trial and post-trial proceedings. Probate & Estate Litigation and General Civil Litigation Handle contested probate matters, guardianships, conservatorships, and elder financial abuse claims All aspects of trials, including drafting of all pleadings, discovery, motion practice, etc. Conduct depositions, prepare and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions. Research and analyze complex legal issues; draft memoranda, briefs, and court filings. Appear in state and/or federal court on behalf of clients at hearings, conferences, and trials. Negotiate settlements and assist in alternative dispute resolution proceedings (mediation/arbitration) Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments. Manage case files and litigation calendars to ensure deadlines and court schedules are met. Exercise sound billing judgment; prepare accurate and timely entries consistent with firm billing practices.
