Business Unit & Strategic Initiatives Location:

We're looking for a business-minded Senior Counsel to help shape strategy, manage risk, and support business outcomes across ADP. In this role, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor to business leaders and legal colleagues, with a strong focus on payroll tax, escalation management, risk mitigation, and compliance. You will partner across legal and business teams to address complex issues, simplify legal guidance for non-legal audiences, and help ADP respond to evolving regulatory and operational demands. What you'll do: Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business leaders and legal colleagues on legal strategy, risk, and compliance across ADP business units Resolve and manage disputes, negotiate settlements, and minimize risk, with a strong focus on employer and employee tax matters and business outsourcing issues Partner closely with colleagues across ADP's legal department and business units to support payroll tax escalation management and develop frameworks that minimize risk and financial exposure for ADP and its clients Collaborate cross-functionally with business and legal teams to support operations, marketing, and compliance initiatives Stay ahead of regulatory changes impacting ADP and drive solutions to meet evolving requirements Simplify complex legal issues for non-legal audiences and help shape business decisions Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across legal and business teams at all levels
Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate and admission to a U.S. state bar required 8+ years' legal experience, ideally a mix of in-house and law firm; dispute resolution background preferred Experience in dispute resolution, with settlement negotiation experience preferred Experience supporting payroll, tax, human capital management, technology, outsourcing, fintech, or business services organizations strongly preferred Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment Strong business judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to risk management Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure Outstanding communication, negotiation, and judgment skills Collaborative, self-directed approach with comfort operating across a highly matrixed organization High ethical standards and a strong commitment to compliance Ability to travel as needed You'll love working here because: Be yourself in a culture that values equity, inclusion, and belonging and creates a safe space for diverse perspectives and insights.
