Position Overview Hill Wallack LLP is seeking an experienced Employment Law Counsel with 7+ years of experience to join its Employment & Labor Law Practice Group in Princeton, New Jersey. We are looking for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and business-minded attorney with substantial management-side employment experience who wants to take ownership of their practice, develop new business, and help grow the Firm's Employment & Labor Law Practice Group. The ideal candidate is proactive, client-focused, and interested in long-term growth, including a potential path toward partnership. Employment law will be the primary focus of the role, including employer counseling, workplace investigations, compliance, employment agreements, and employment litigation. The attorney should also be willing to handle broader litigation matters, including general litigation, construction litigation, government affairs, insurance defense, and related matters, as appropriate. Essential Responsibilities Advise employers, management, and HR professionals on a broad range of employment and labor law matters, including hiring, discipline, performance management, accommodations, leaves of absence, terminations, and workplace compliance. Conduct and advise clients on internal workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and other employee concerns. Draft and review employee handbooks, workplace policies, employment and separation agreements, restrictive covenants, and other employment-related documents. Represent employers in employment litigation and administrative proceedings involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, whistleblower, and related claims. Provide practical, business-oriented advice regarding federal and state employment law compliance and risk management. Independently manage client matters from inception through resolution while maintaining strong client relationships. Take an active role in growing the Firm's Employment & Labor Law Practice Group by developing new client relationships, generating business, and identifying opportunities to expand existing relationships. Handle broader litigation matters as needed, including general litigation, construction litigation, government affairs, insurance defense, and related disputes. Collaborate with attorneys across the Firm to develop cross-practice opportunities and contribute to the Firm's overall growth. Required Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Admission to practice law in New Jersey and in good standing. 7+ years of legal experience, with significant experience representing employers and management in employment law matters. Strong experience in employment counseling and employment litigation. Broad experience with workplace investigations, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, employee handbooks and policies, and employment law compliance. Strong knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws. Ability to independently manage matters and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice directly to clients. Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, communication, and client-service skills. Entrepreneurial and proactive approach, with a demonstrated interest in business development, client relationship building, and growing a legal practice. Preferred Qualifications Admission to practice law in New York desirable but not required. Experience in general litigation, construction litigation, government affairs, insurance defense, or related litigation. Demonstrated business development experience and entrepreneurial mindset.
