Job Description

American Medical Administrators (AMA LTC) is seeking a seasoned General Counsel to serve as the chief legal strategist for one of the fastest-growing long-term care organizations in the region. Why This Role Stands Out Direct partnership with executive leadership and ownership Influence across operations, compliance, M&A, and growth strategy High visibility with the ability to build and structure the legal function Fast-scaling organization with real momentum—not red tape Position Overview The General Counsel will lead all legal functions across the organization, providing strategic guidance on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, labor/employment matters, litigation, and transactions. This role requires a proactive, business-minded legal leader who can operate at both a strategic and tactical level. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary legal advisor to executive leadership Oversee all legal matters including healthcare regulatory compliance, CMS/State survey issues, and risk management Manage and mitigate litigation, claims, and external counsel relationships Provide guidance on labor & employment law , including employee relations, investigations, and policy development Support acquisitions, divestitures, and contract negotiations across the portfolio Ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare laws, including Medicare/Medicaid regulations Develop and implement internal legal policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks Advise on corporate governance and organizational risk strategy Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Active license to practice law in the State of Ohio (required) 7+ years of legal experience , with strong preference for healthcare or long-term care Deep knowledge of healthcare regulations, reimbursement structures, and compliance standards Experience handling employment law, contracts, and litigation management Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-site environment Executive presence with strong communication and decision-making skills What We're Looking For A strategic thinker who can see around corners A builder who wants to establish and elevate a legal function Someone comfortable being both advisor and operator A professional who understands that in LTC, speed and compliance must coexist Compensation & Benefits Highly competitive executive compensation package (base + bonus) Comprehensive benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO Executive-level autonomy and influence
