Agency Overview The State Board of Education is made up of 19 members- 11 who are elected and eight who are appointed by the governor.
Job Description:
Attorney 1 is a key role at the Board. In this position, you will be responsible for: Conducting legal research and writing reports. Responding to law-related inquiries in a timely and confidential manner. Assisting staff attorneys in investigations on cases involving professional misconduct of educators with an emphasis on cases not involving criminal convictions. Drafting, analyzing and reviewing subpoenas and public records requests. Preparing cases for administrative review of disciplinary action including editing and proofreading documents and drafting interview and document summaries. Attending administrative hearings. Reviewing hearing officer reports and recommendations. Responding to inquiries from agency employees, government officials and the public. Unless required by legislation or union contract, salary will be set at the lowest rate of the salary range with gradual increases in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code orOCSEA/AFSCME
