Position Summary The Contracts Counsel is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating escalations, and advising on a wide range of healthcare contracts, including mergers and acquisitions. This role requires deep expertise in health and contract law, including fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) regulations such as AKS, Stark and FCA, HIPAA and privacy laws, accreditation requirements (e.g., Medicare Conditions of Participation), employment‑related contracting considerations, mergers and acquisitions, and technology and data‑governance regulations. The Contracts Counsel ensures that all contracts support organizational strategy, mitigate risk, and comply with federal and state regulatory requirements. The Contracts Counsel provides strategic guidance on enterprise‑wide contracting practices, supports system‑level initiatives, and collaborates closely with the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, and operational leaders. This role requires maintaining current knowledge and expertise in healthcare federal and state laws and other laws applicable to contracts and/or the contracting process. The ideal candidate is technology‑forward, comfortable working with AI‑enabled tools, and able to anticipate how emerging technologies impact contracting, compliance, and organizational risk. This position will report to the Associate General Counsel overseeing the Contracts Team. It is possible to work remotely in this position. Position Qualifications Required Experience 3 years of contract drafting and negotiation experience in the healthcare industry, including mergers and acquisitions Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school is required Certification/Licensure Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction is required Ability to obtain full or House Counsel licensure in Oregon within 12 months from the start of employment is required Total Rewards We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package designed to support your well-being and professional growth, including:
