Posted Date 9/03/2026 Description Tonkon Torp LLP, a prominent, full-service firm in Portland, Oregon, is looking to hire a lateral mid-level/senior associate with 4-6 years' business immigration experience to join its Immigration Department. You will work with legal and team assistants, paralegals, and partners to file employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions / applications with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, PERM applications with U.S. Department of Labor, and visa applications with U.S. Department of State. The qualified candidate will have the following skills:
- Experience with business temporary nonimmigrant and immigrant matters, as well as naturalization.
Nonimmigrant:
Specialty Occupation Workers, Intracompany Transferees, Extraordinary Ability, USMCA Professionals, Business visitors, Treaty Traders/Investors, Students oImmigrant:
PERM, NIW, Extraordinary Ability, Multinational Managers/Executives, Outstanding Researchers and Professors o Some family-based immigration experience, primarily including marriage-based one-step applications o Naturalization applications o I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification compliance advice o Client presentations- Strong research and analytical skills, with an ability to interpret and apply complex legal concepts.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Client service mindset and team oriented.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
Qualifications Required:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Admitted and in good standing with the Oregon bar or eligible to obtain admission promptly (information on Oregon's admission based on comity can be found at Oregon State Board of Bar Examiners - General Information).
- Business-minded with an interest in understanding clients' industries and goals.
