Job Description

Litigation AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney to join our firm and manage a diverse caseload of civil matters from intake through resolution. The successful candidate will develop and execute litigation strategies, prepare pleadings and motions, conduct discovery, take and defend depositions, advocate for clients in hearings and trials, and communicate clearly with clients and colleagues. This role requires strong written and verbal advocacy, solid courtroom presence, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while delivering high-quality legal work.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of civil litigation matters from initial assessment through trial and post-trial proceedings.

Draft and file complaints, answers, motions, briefs, and other court pleadings with clarity and legal precision.

Develop and implement case strategies, including investigative plans, discovery protocols, and litigation timelines.

Conduct and respond to discovery, including document production, interrogatories, requests for admission, and e-discovery workflows.

Plan, prepare, and take depositions; prepare witnesses and defend depositions when required.

Argue motions and appear for hearings, pretrial conferences, and trials; advocate effectively in court and before administrative tribunals.

Negotiate settlements and alternatives to litigation when in the clients best interest, documenting agreements and ensuring enforceability.

Provide timely, clear communication to clients regarding case status, strategy, and potential outcomes; maintain strong client relationships.

Collaborate with colleagues, paralegals, and outside experts; supervise support staff and delegate tasks as appropriate.

Maintain organized case files, meet court-imposed and internal deadlines, and use legal software for case management and e-filing.

QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.5+ years of litigation experience preferred; trial experience is a strong plus.

Proven experience drafting pleadings, motions, and legal briefs with strong written communication skills.

Practical experience managing discovery, including document review, e-discovery, and deposition practice.

Excellent verbal communication and oral advocacy skills, with courtroom presence and comfort arguing before judges and juries.

Strong analytical and legal research skills, including familiarity with Westlaw, LexisNexis, or equivalent research tools.

Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Professionalism, ethical judgment, and commitment to client service; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Familiarity with case management and e-filing systems; proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software.
