Job Description

The Deputy Solicitor, under the direction of the County Solicitor, manages the Legal Department's procurement and contracts practice and provides legal counsel to County leadership and department heads. The Deputy is responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, leases, grant agreements, surety bonds, and interagency agreements to represent the County's interests and ensure contract terms comply with local, state, and federal laws. Working with a small multidisciplinary team, the Deputy will also assist in the development and maintenance of standardized contract templates and terms; draft ordinances and resolutions; coordinate and oversee transactional work performed by outside counsel; and assist the Office of the Solicitor with other legal duties as needed. Advise County leadership and departments on contract matters. Draft and review contracts, leases, and other legal agreements. Coordinate and oversee contractual work performed by outside counsel. Advise County leadership and staff on matters related to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), bidding processes, and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) to ensure compliance, fairness, and transparency. Provide strategic input on the development of the Legal Department's transactional practice and the implementation of best practices. Provide legal support to County leadership engaged in complex contract negotiations. Work with Risk Management and staff to identify potential liabilities and risks and protect the County's interests. Perform other legal tasks as assigned, including providing legal support to the Solicitor, County Council, and County departments. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
