We are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with a deep background in estate administration to join our boutique trust and estate law firm. This role is designed for a professional who excels in serving high-net-worth individuals and families and is ready to manage sophisticated matters from inception through closing. You will serve as a primary advisor to fiduciaries and beneficiaries, providing critical technical guidance on tax compliance and post-mortem planning while enjoying significant professional autonomy and a leadership role within a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities Case Management:
Independently oversee the full administration of complex taxable and non-taxable estates and trusts.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and supervise the filing of Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax returns (PA-1500) and Federal Estate Tax Returns (Form 706).
Post-Mortem Planning:
Provide legal analysis regarding estate tax elections, valuation issues, and strategic planning opportunities.
Legal Drafting:
Draft probate petitions, court filings, accountings, and comprehensive closing documents.
Fiduciary Advisory:
Act as the primary point of contact for financial institutions, court personnel, and advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.
Leadership & Mentoring:
Supervise and train junior paralegals, ensuring high standards of work product and efficient workflow management.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-6+ years of law firm experience specifically in estate and trust administration.
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Bar Admission:
Active admission to practice in Pennsylvania (or eligibility for prompt admission).
Technical Mastery:
• Significant experience with PA-1500 and Form 706 preparation. Deep understanding of federal and Pennsylvania fiduciary income tax principles.
Skills:
• Proven ability to manage matters independently from start to finish. Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Professional confidence in client-facing environments.
