Contracts & Legal Support Provide legal support for all contract matters across the organization, including review, drafting, negotiation, interpretation, and risk mitigation. Serve as the primary point of contact for leadership and operational teams on contract-related issues. Anticipate contract needs and proactively advise internal stakeholders with practicable business-oriented guidance. Develop and maintain standard contract templates, playbooks, and processes. Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and manage the Contract Specialist and Paralegal. Set expectations, allocate work, and support professional development. Foster a collaborative and service-oriented legal team culture. Relationship Management & Cross-Functional Partnership Build and maintain strong relationships with leaders and teams across the organization. Serve as a strategic legal advisor aligned with operational goals. Communicate complex legal issues clearly and practically. General Counsel Collaboration Support the General Counsel on litigation management as needed. Assist with other high-risk or complex legal matters at the direction of the General Counsel. Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve contract processes and workflows. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies, including healthcare regulatory requirements. Support special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Required:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in Virginia or the ability to obtain a corporate counsel certificate from the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners. Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience, either in a law firm or in-house, with at least three (3) years of experience focusing on healthcare law. Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment skills. Substantial experience applying healthcare regulatory law in a transactional and operational context, including regular involvement with laws and regulations such as HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti‑Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and related federal and state healthcare compliance requirements. Demonstrated people leadership experience. Strong business judgment and communication skills.
Preferred:
Prior in-house counsel experience.
