A substantial part of our legal services involve assisting our clients with the collection of unpaid dues or assessments. Our client roster and workload is too much for a single attorney, so we are looking for a smart, self-starting, and confident Associate Attorney to join the team. Role Description This is a full-time role for an Associate Attorney. We are very flexible on work location; we have an office in Portland, but we could accommodate hybrid or fully remote options. We are open to recently licensed attorneys, out of state attorneys looking to move to the Pacific Northwest, or more experienced practitioners. Cultural fit and general competency will be more important than experience in any particular area of the law. But, the right candidate will have a genuine interest in representing community associations. The wage range listed is a starting point depending on experience. The particular traits we are looking for are: excellent writing skills and competent legal analysis; a team-oriented attitude and a jovial spirit; willingness to grapple with difficult legal questions that may be outside your comfort zone; either court-room experience, or a willingness to gain courtroom experience independently; Strong organizational skills—we do a mix of advisory work, transactional work, and litigation. We act as general counsel for hundreds of non-profit community associations. As general counsel, we handle any of our clients' legal needs that may come up. It's never a dull day, and our work involves contract law, tort law, statutory schemes governing planned communities and condominiums as well as non-profit corporations; state and federal fair-housing laws; landlord-tenant laws; constructions defect laws; and collections of unpaid assessments, which includes the laws governing debt collectors. We need a generalist in that sense, and, to be successful at our firm, you will need to be able to properly prioritize your tasks in order to meet client expectations and court-mandated deadlines.
