Insurance Defense Litigation AssociateLong Island (Farmington) - REMOTE option$110-180k salaryAbout the FirmOur client is an A.M. Headquartered in Long Island (Farmingdale area) with an extensive footprint spanning the Five Boroughs of New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley, the firm delivers high-caliber, aggressive, and cost-effective legal representation to insurance carriers, self-insured corporations, municipalities, and business interests.

Position OverviewWe are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Litigation Associate Attorney to handle a diverse and sophisticated portfolio of defense files. This role provides direct exposure to complex, high-exposure civil litigation, working on matters from initial file assignment through resolution, including extensive motion practice and court advocacy.
Primary Practice Focus:
Construction accident litigation (NY Labor Law), construction defects, indemnification and insurance coverage disputes, premises liability, municipal liability, and high-exposure transportation/motor vehicle accidents.
Location:
Farmington, New York (Servicing NYC, Long Island, and Lower Hudson Valley footprints)
Key ResponsibilitiesComprehensive Case Management:
Independently manage and progress a diverse litigation caseload, identifying key liability and damages issues early in the file to drive efficient resolutions.
Deposition Advocacy:
Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, key witnesses, medical experts, and corporate representatives.
Court Appearances:
Confidently represent clients at court conferences, oral arguments, mediations, and arbitrations across Metropolitan NYC and Long Island venues.
Sophisticated Writing & Analysis:
Conduct detailed legal research and draft high-quality pleadings, substantive discovery demands/responses, and complex motions (including summary judgment motions focusing on sole proximate cause and contractual indemnification defenses).
Client Reporting:
Maintain the firm's signature high standards of client communication by drafting timely, detailed, and clear case analysis reports for insurance adjusters and corporate clients.
Qualifications & RequirementsBar Admission:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active admission in good standing to the New York State Bar. (Admission or willingness to waive into the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York is a plus).
Experience:
Min. 2+ years of dedicated civil litigation experience, with a strong background in New York insurance defense, general liability, or construction/Labor Law matters.
Core Competencies:
Strong, persuasive writing skills for complex motion practice.

Natural confidence in oral advocacy and court presentation.

Exceptional organizational skills to handle strict insurance carrier reporting guidelines and litigation deadlines.

A practical, strategic approach to litigation-knowing when to push for early resolution and when to aggressively prepare a case for trial.
