Job Description In North America, LDC owns or operates oilseed crushing and processing facilities; biodiesel, ethanol, and glycerin production assets; food and beverage ingredient businesses; export terminals; research, development and innovation centers; and a broad network of logistics, storage and distribution assets. The position offers the opportunity to interact with senior management and work on a wide range of legal matters associated with all aspects of LDC's North American businesses. Areas of responsibility may include commercial transactions, strategic projects, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property matters, corporate and finance transactions, construction and capital projects, regulatory and compliance matters, supply chain and logistics issues, employment matters, disputes and litigation management, and general corporate counseling. The successful candidate will work closely with commercial, operations, industrial, innovation, finance, human resources and corporate teams, and will have the opportunity to support both regional matters and certain global initiatives. Qualifications Juris Doctor degree. Bar admission in good standing, licensed to practice in one or more states; without admission in Connecticut, must be eligible to register as Connecticut Authorized House Counsel. Approximately 5-7 years of experience in-house and/or in a law firm, with an emphasis on commercial transactions, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, litigation, and general corporate counseling; prior in-house experience supporting multiple business functions is a plus. Must be able to multi-task in a challenging, fast-paced work environment. Strong judgment and the ability to independently manage matters while effectively escalating issues when appropriate. Proactive, energetic self-starter and independent thinker. Detail oriented and organized. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams. An enthusiasm to leverage artificial intelligence tools to improve efficiency, enhance work product quality, and support business objectives. Intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills and a desire to continuously learn and expand expertise across a broad range of legal disciplines.
