JOB DESCRIPTION

II - ERISA
& Employment, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance and governance for our health, welfare, and retirement plans while providing strategic employment law guidance. What You'll Do In this role, you will serve as the primary legal advisor to the HR Benefits organization and a trusted partner to HR and business leaders.
Your responsibilities will include:
Health & Welfare Plans Advise on plan design, administration, and compliance under ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and related regulations. Draft, review, and update plan documents, SPDs, amendments, and participant communications. Provide guidance on fiduciary duties and risk mitigation for health & welfare plans. Support audits, investigations, and participant claims/appeals. Negotiate and review vendor agreements (TPAs, carriers, PBMs) for compliance. Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates and disclosures. Retirement & Compensation Plans Counsel HR Benefits and Compensation teams on ERISA, FLSA, and related compliance matters. Ensure fiduciary governance for 401(k) and other defined contribution plans. Negotiate and review vendor agreements related to retirement and compensation plans. Participate in and support the organization's 401(k) Committee. General Employment Law Serve as first-line advisor for HR and management on employment law issues, including hiring, performance management, worker classification, accommodations, and restructurings. Draft and update employment policies, procedures, and handbooks. Prepare and maintain employment contract templates. Escalate complex matters to Director, AGC - Enterprise Operations, Product, & Employment as appropriate.
Who You Are Basic Qualifications Education & Credentials:
JD and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Experience:
6+ years of ERISA/benefits experience, including health & welfare, retirement, and compensation plan compliance. 1-3 years of general employment law experience in-house or with a law firm.
Technical Knowledge:
Working knowledge of
ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA
fiduciary rules.
Skills & Competencies:
Strategic thinker with ability to anticipate regulatory changes. Strong business acumen and practical problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build trust and collaborate across HR, Finance, and leadership teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
