Job Description Advise cities and public agencies on municipal law matters. Serve as legal counsel to planning commissions and public boards. Provide guidance regarding Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act compliance. Draft and negotiate transactional agreements and municipal contracts. Advise clients on land use, zoning, and entitlement matters. Provide legal analysis involving CEQA, NEPA, and environmental compliance. Counsel clients on development agreements and redevelopment matters. Attend planning commission, council, and public agency meetings. Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions. Draft ordinances, resolutions, agreements, and policy documents. Collaborate with public officials and agency staff on complex legal issues. Travel as needed to attend client meetings and public hearings. Qualifications Active California Bar license. 5+ years of experience representing public agencies. Significant experience handling transactional and municipal advisory matters. Direct experience advising planning commissions or other public bodies. Strong knowledge of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act. Significant experience in one or more of the following: land use and zoning, CEQA/NEPA, development agreements, redevelopment, water law, election law, First Amendment law, medical marijuana regulation, or fair housing. Excellent legal writing, drafting, and client counseling skills. Ability to travel as needed.
