Job Description
Senior Litigation Attorney Position Summary Senex Law is seeking an experienced, strategic, and client-focused Senior Litigation Attorney to lead complex landlord-tenant litigation, mentor junior attorneys, and serve as a trusted legal advisor to some of the largest multifamily owners and management companies in the state. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex legal problems, and wants to help shape the future of a growing law firm that combines technology, operational excellence, and exceptional client service. This is more than a courtroom position, it is an opportunity to influence firm strategy, improve processes and build client relationships. Handle complex contested landlord-tenant litigation from inception through resolution. Handle first return high volume first return dockets. Represent clients in General District and Circuit Courts. Prepare and argue motions, evidentiary hearings, and trials. Manage appeals and complex post-judgment litigation. Provide strategic legal analysis on novel or difficult legal issues. Client Relations Serve as lead legal advisor for assigned clients. Build long-term trusted relationships with regional managers, executives, and ownership groups. Provide practical legal guidance that balances legal risk with business objectives. Conduct client meetings, trainings, webinars, and educational presentations. Mentorship & Leadership Mentor associate attorneys and litigation support staff. Review legal work product for quality and consistency. Assist with onboarding and training new attorneys. Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture. Operational Excellence Help improve litigation workflows and internal processes. Identify efficiencies through technology and automation. Assist in developing standard operating procedures and best practices. Maintain high productivity while ensuring exceptional quality. Legal Research & Compliance Stay current on legislative changes and case law. Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, briefs, and appellate documents. Assist with compliance initiatives and legal updates affecting clients. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Active Virginia Bar license in good standing 5+ years of litigation experience preferred Significant courtroom experience Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills Strong organizational and case management abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload Preferred Landlord-tenant or real estate litigation experience Civil litigation background Collections or creditors' rights experience Management or supervisory experience Experience training attorneys or legal staff Public speaking experience
