• Commercial Real Estate Lending Capital One's Legal Department is seeking an experienced commercial real estate finance attorney to support its growing Commercial Bank.

Within the CRE segment, you will provide legal counsel to the Multifamily Agency Finance business (Agency Finance), which is a seller/servicer for multifamily agency lenders, spanning Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA/HUD loan production, asset management, and servicing. Responsibilities Include:

Providing legal support to Agency Finance as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the transaction teams and other internal partners Partnering with Agency Finance business partners, Risk and Compliance to evaluate GSE and/or FHA program requirements and develop policies and procedures for compliance, monitoring and reporting Tracking and managing negotiation of sub-servicing documentation in connection with Freddie Mac securitizations and assist with interpretation of sub-servicing obligations for existing securitizations from an asset management and servicing perspective Engaging and overseeing outside legal counsel in an effective and efficient manner Partnering collaboratively with other internal counsel and business teams in the Commercial Bank and across the enterprise Advising Commercial Bank business partners on communications with external parties, including customers, regulators, partners, industry trade groups and outside law firms Providing thought and strategic leadership on relevant industry and regulatory developments Leading projects such as the development of negotiation guidelines and training sessions Partnering with the Operations team to drive process improvements

Basic Qualifications:

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Active member in good standing of at least one state bar At least 4 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate or as in-house counsel

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination Working knowledge of commercial real estate lending issues involving title insurance, surveys, zoning, and flood, casualty/liability insurance 2+ years of experience focused on multifamily agency finance transactions (working on transactions originated by Fannie Mae DUS lenders and/or Freddie Mac Optigo lenders) Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong ability to quickly understand the business needs and partner with the business At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
