Job Description

Overview Hopeful Horizons, a nonprofit children's advocacy, domestic violence and sexual assault victim service organization serving the South Carolina Lowcountry, is seeking a part-time attorney to provide civil litigation and information to adult victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The part time attorney position is based in Beaufort and will travel to serve clients in Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties. Civil litigation will primarily be in the area of family law, although the attorney may work in other areas based on the needs of the client. The attorney will also provide law-related information and education about domestic violence and sexual assault to law enforcement, attorneys and court personnel as needed.
Qualified applicants must:
be a member of the SC Bar; have family law experience; have good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; work and communicate effectively in a team environment; have knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault; and have a non-judgmental attitude.
Rate:
$45-$50 per hour based on qualifications and experience
Hours:
16-20 hours per week A valid driver's license, good driving record, and background clearances are required. Victim Service Provider certification is required within one year of employment.
