Summary:
This position resides in the Regional, Subregional, and Resident Offices of the National Labor Relations Board. The regional offices represent the actual operating arm of the Agency, the means through which both the Board and the General Counsel reach the public.Duties:
As a General Attorney (Labor), GS-0905-12, your typical work assignments may include: Analyzing a variety of simple to moderately complex cases, including unfair labor practices charges, petitions to determine collective-bargaining representatives, petitions to decertify labor organizations, and petitions to rescind union security contract clauses. Examining cases by reviewing all pertinent records of the charged party and the charging party to determine if new/amended charges are warranted. Under direct supervision, litigating unfair labor practice cases before Administrative Law Judges, and related proceedings in federal court, including examining and cross-examining witnesses, introducing evidence and exhibits, lodging appropriate objections, and arguing motions made by the parties. Making recommendations to the Regional Director as to whether representation cases should proceed, including examining the showing of interest presented in certain types of cases and negotiating appropriate Consent or Stipulated Election Agreements.Requirements:

Ideal Candidate Statement The Ideal Candidate for The General Attorney (labor) (field Attorney) Will Have Knowledge or Experience Preparing Legal Documents, Including Memoranda, Motions or Briefs and Presenting Arguments or Making Presentations on Factual and Legal Issues. Knowledge of The National Labor Relations Act or Other Labor or Employment Statutes Is Preferred. Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills to Interact with Witnesses, Opposing Counsel, Colleagues and Senior Level Management; and Strong Research and Analytical Skills Are Desired.Basic Requirement:
Education:
Must Have Successfully Completed a Full Course of Study in A School of Law Accredited by The American Bar Association (aba) and Have the First Professional Law Degree (ll.B. or J.D.). Law School Transcripts Must Be Submitted at The Time of Application.
Bar Membership and Certification:
Must Currently Be a Member in Good Standing of The Bar of A State, Territory, or Commonwealth of The United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Experience Providing Analysis And/or the Interpretation of Issues that May Include Legal And/or Policy Matters; And Experience Performing Legal Research and Recommendations Based on Legal Principles to Substantiate Cases; And Experience Communicating Orally to Relay and Explain Legal Issues and Factual Scenarios in A Legal Environment. This Experience Must Be Fully Supported and Articulated in Your Resume to Receive Consideration.
