Job Description

Maintains current knowledge of legislative changes, court decisions, and emerging trends in municipal and administrative law Performs other duties as may be assigned Advises on public works, employment law, open records and ethics compliance Drafts, reviews, and approves ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, and policies Provide training to elected officials and staff on legal topics affecting municipal operations Represents the city in civil litigations, administrative hearings, and negotiations, manage and coordinate outside legal counsel when necessary Ensure compliance with the Texas Open Meeting Act, public Information act, and other relevant statues and regulations Attending and advice during City Council meetings, and other official proceedings Provides legal advice and counsel to the Mayor, City Council, City Secretary, department directors on all matters related to the official duties, compliance and city affairs
Qualifications:
Valid Texas Driver s License Class C Five to seven years of experience in municipal law within the State of Texas License to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas Juris Doctorate degree from a recognized law school
