7/23/2026. This position is responsible for managing the operations related to delinquent accounts of the Hot Check Division. Major Duties Intake cases for new and existing accounts; update account information. Process final notices to be mailed to delinquent account holders. Makes daily collection calls. Interview difficult hot check writers to determine whether they qualify for short-term payment plans; obtain financial information to ensure payment of debt. Create weekly lists by ZIP codes to facilitate investigators' contact with hot-check writers. Utilize the LexisNexis Investigative Portal to locate individuals, businesses, and assets. Determine whether a writer has defaulted on an account; submit cases for the preparation of warrants and arrests. Develop and deliver presentations, pamphlets, and posters. Assist with accepting payments on accounts. Reconcile and prepare daily deposits. Prepares a variety of regular and special reports. Performs any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of County and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of legal terminology, policies and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in analyzing problems and developing and implementing solutions. Skill in preparing clear and precise administrative reports. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. Minimum Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Must have one ( 1 ) year of working experience. Supplemental Information Complexity/Scope of Work The work consists of performing related duties in the investigation and collection of monies from hot check writers. Dealing with uncooperative individuals may contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to manage the delinquent accounts operations of the Hot Check Division. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations. Physical Demands/Work Environment Occasionally Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles. Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods. Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions. Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds. Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Constantly Communicating with others to exchange information. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Other Requirements/Information Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license. The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
